BIO

“Beatriz is a pure and holistic musician who is bringing new excitement into the world of classical music!"
Antony Hermus
Conductor

Celebrated for the voice-like beauty of her playing, Mexican-American flutist and soprano Beatriz Macias is emerging as one of the most versatile figures in the scene of classical music. Beatriz made her solo debut at the age of eighteen at the prestigious D.A.R. Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C., and shortly after was named a Young Performing Artist by the Yamaha Corporation of America. Beatriz’ career has taken her around the world. As a flutist, Beatriz has held the Principal Flute position in the Luxembourg Chamber Orchestra and has appeared with numerous orchestras including the Frankfurt Radio Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Dutch National Ballet & Opera Orchestra, Luxembourg Philharmonic, Royal Opera House ‘La Monnaie’, Royal Flemish Philharmonic, Tampere Philharmonic, Finnish National Opera, Birmingham Royal Ballet Orchestra, Qatar Philharmonic and the Houston Symphony, to name a few. Beatriz is also the founder and Artistic Director of the Tampere Flute Fest in Finland. As a singer, Beatriz’ lyric coloratura voice is an extension of her instrument. Alongside Finnish pianist Tuomas Nikkanen, Macias is presenting her concert series “The best of Zarzuela!” in Finland, the Netherlands and the USA. “Macias is like fire on stage, bringing each emotion of Zarzuela to life!” says her artists’ management BMusic Finland. Gradually, this genre of singing has led Macias to venture into new grounds in her career. This upcoming year she will be releasing her first album with works for both flute and voice under the record company Orpheus Classics. Beatriz holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the Boston Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts and a Master’s Degree from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in Belgium.
